Wils Gaythwaite was a huge supporter of the team throughout his life. For a good number of years, Wils Gaythwaite was an indispensable member of the Wath Brow Hornets. Wils was a very successful player for the Hornets during this time period, and it was during this time that he garnered awards that were reflective of his overall skill. Wils played for the Hornets in his youth before moving on to the professional ranks with Workington Town.
Wils was well liked by virtually everyone, and everyone had a great degree of affection and respect for him. His popularity was universal. Even after he retired from playing professionally, Wils continued to be an active member of the club, and he was a devoted fan of the Hornets for the rest of his life. Wils was dedicated to providing his cherished grandchildren, as well as his daughter Jemma and son-in-law Graeme, with help in any way that he could.
