Theodore Haringa Obituary, Death – Ted Haringa of Fowler Road died on Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023. Parents Herman R. and Jennie (Baker) Haringa. Marie A. (Wassenaar) Haringa, his wife of 69 years, survives him. His four children—Barbara J. Knapper, who died in 2010, Steven T. and Ruth Haringa, Jane E. and David Buteyn, and Timothy J. and Lorraine Haringa—survive him.
Ted’s brother Roger Haringa died. Ted was family-oriented. He was curious and supportive of his 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, as well as his wife and children. He and Marie enjoyed talking, learning, and appreciating their grandchildren’s achievements, milestones, and hobbies. Ted helped Lawrence R. McCoy & Co. Inc. in Worcester, Massachusetts, with his immaculate organization, financial management, and intelligent communication for over 42 years.
Vice President and Treasurer till 1997. Ted served on several religious and community groups, boards, and councils. He served Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church as Educational Elder, Elder of Pastoral Care to Seniors, Financial Secretary, and Spiritual Life Committee Chairman for many years as a committed Christian. Ted was Corporator, Board of Directors/Trustees, Board of Investment/Executive Committee, Compensation Committee Chairman, and others at Unibank for Savings. He was a Meals on Wheels volunteer, Whitinsville Christian School Board of Trustees treasurer, Blackstone Valley Crop Walk treasurer, and Salisbury Singers board member.
Ted and Marie shared many interests that brightened their daily lives, including beautifying their immaculate outdoor oasis on Fowler Road, candlepin bowling, enjoying live performances of all types of classical music, attending Whitinsville Christian School varsity basketball games, taking road trips to Rhode Island’s beaches, traveling within the US and abroad to Italy, Greece, and other parts of Europe, including frequent visits to Buma Funeral Home, 480 Church Street, Whitinsville, will have calling hours from 4-7pm on Friday, April 14. Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church, 305 Goldthwaite Road, Whitinsville, will host funeral services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15.
