Terry Buckwalter Obituary New Wilmington, PA, Terry Buckwalter Funeral Notice

Terry Buckwalter Obituary, Death – An unexpected death occurred on Sunday evening at UPMC Jameson Hospital for Terry Eugene Buckwalter Sr., who was 76 years old and lived on Pearson Drive in New Wilmington. Terry was born in New Castle on August 19, 1946. His parents, Joseph W. Buckwalter and Shirley Maughan Buckwalter, both passed away before Terry was born. On August 10, 1968, he wed the woman who was formerly known as Florence Mary Toscano, and she continues to reside at the property.

In 1964, he received his diploma from West Middlesex High School. He then attended Slippery Rock State Teachers College, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree, and Westminster College, where he received his Master of Education degree. A farmer his entire life, he spent his retirement years at West Middlesex High School teaching American history to secondary students and coaching golf.

He enjoyed making history engaging and relevant, as well as acting out significant events from history. He maintained contact not only with his former students but also with their children and even their grandchildren. He attended the Neshannock Presbyterian Church regularly throughout his life. Terry found the most joy in activities such as golfing, listening to classic rock, driving his tractor around fields, and tinkering with things outside the house.

He was a social member of his community who enjoyed chatting with friends and strangers alike about history, current events, and the weather. At other times, however, he was a quiet and reflective soul who enjoyed thinking about the past and the future. Because of his strong commitment to his work, he started his day in the fields long before it was light outside. According to our estimates, he cut a significant amount of wood every single day.

His requirements were uncomplicated, but we knew we could always count on Dad/Grandpa/BigBuck to be there for us in times of need. Many people are going to miss the glint in his eye and the one-of-a-kind and contagious laugh that he had. Survivors include his wife Flo and two daughters, Margaret Kathleen and her fiancee Orlando Martinez of Louisville, Ky.; and Heidi Eileen (Utkarsh) Ghildyal of Pittsburgh; one son, Dr. Terry E. (Christine) Buckwalter, New Wilmington; one brother, Joe (Mary) Buckwalter Jr.,

New Wilmington; two sisters, Deborah (Ray) Broomal, Manassas, Va.; and Linda (Richard) Rippy, Cincinnati, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Keane, Kaetlynn, Paige, Collin, Nandi, Arya and River. Terry Eugene, age 76, residing in New Wilmington. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home located at 310 West Neshannock Avenue in New Wilmington. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday (4-1-23) at the Neshannock Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Howard Gaston officiating.
