Robert Assaly Obituary, Death – The passing of our priest, Fr. Robert Assely, who went away on March 26, 2023 after a brief battle with illness, is something that comes with a great degree of grief on our side. Fr. Robert Asseley fought cancer for a short while before he passed away. Our deepest sympathies go out to his beloved mother Gloria, as well as to his wife Nancy, their six children Kristi, Ben, Justin, Bishara, and Janan, and Fedi, his grandsons Matthew, Henry, and Anna, and all of his other loved ones. We are very sorry for your loss. We ask that you join us in praying for them, together with the congregations of St. Willibrord and St. Thomas More, and we ask that you join us in praying for them.
Because of Fr. Robert’s unmistakable passion to preach the gospel in the city of Verdun and his inexhaustible excitement for the work of the missionary cause, he will be remembered for all time. This will be the case since his eagerness cannot be denied. In his honor, we will continue working for the rehabilitation of our neighborhood, Verdun, as well as other areas further away with the same level of zeal and enthusiasm. He will be greatly missed by everyone. Saint Thomas More Church, which is located in Verdun at 980 Moffat Street, will serve as the location for both the viewing and the funeral service.
On Friday, March 31, 2023, there will be a viewing from 2 to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. The viewing will be place in the funeral home. (Father Mike will be in charge of leading prayer during the gathering that will take place on Friday evening at eight o’clock.) This occasion will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2023, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and continuing until 11:30 a.m. The time and place of the funeral liturgy will be eleven thirty in the morning on Saturday, April 1st, 2023. (Fr. Raymond Lafontaine, E.V., will serve as the ceremony’s master of ceremonies, and Fr. Peter Sabbath will provide the homily.)
