Rex Millar Obituary, Death – On Monday, the institution was informed of Rex Millar’s passing, which brought about a great deal of sadness among the student body. Rex was a faculty member at the institution from 1962 until 1991. For the better part of that time, he served as Head of Mathematics and Physics as well as Dean of Forms 6 and 7. Everyone of the students who attended the school during that time period had a “Mr. Millar tale”!
After he retired, Rex has kept up a very active interest in the school, continuing to visit it on a regular basis, providing it with an unlimited supply of fresh ideas, and attending the school’s yearly prizegivings. In particular, he was an ardent member of the Rangitkei College Trust and an unrelenting advocate for the organization. The Rangitkei College Trust is the entity that is responsible for supplying a number of prizes and scholarships for our students, in addition to providing the Year 9 stationery packs. In addition to that, he was an integral part in the planning process for class reunions.
Rex followed the careers of past students of the institution with great care, and as a result, his knowledge of former classmates from the 1960s through the 1990s was unparalleled and priceless. Our sincere condolences go out to a friend who will be greatly missed at the campus.
