Noreen Spence Obituary, Death – It is with profound regret that we share the news of Noreen Deborah Spence’s demise. She was 91 years old and resided in Baie Verte, New Brunswick. In the Sackville Memorial Hospital on the evening of Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Noreen died away. She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret (Doyle) Goodwin, and she was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Noreen’s nursing studies took her from Baie Verte, New Brunswick, to Bellville, Ontario, when she was a young lady.
After completing her education, she went back to the Sackville (New Brunswick) Hospital, where she worked as a nurse for a number of years. Noreen played an important role in the establishment of a diabetes clinic in Sackville. She was also a participant in the preliminary planning stages of the Westford Nursing Home, which is located in Port Elgin, New Brunswick. Those who worked with Noreen or received nursing care from her had great memories of her. Noreen was a feisty woman who was both intelligent and as tough as a nail. She was devoted to her friends, served as a mother to many, and was a dependable support for her family and community.
Her sons Marc (wife Ghita Levin) and Michael (wife Mary Thompson), both of Baie Verte, as well as her siblings Margaret Ann (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia), Esther (Moncton, New Brunswick), Don (Winnipeg, Minnesota), and Reg (Wawa, Ontario), will miss her terribly. Her husband, George, her son, Jeff, and her brother, Rod, all passed away before she did. Jones Funeral Home in Port Elgin and Sackville, New Brunswick, 364-1300, has been entrusted with the responsibility of making the necessary arrangements, and cremation has already taken place. In the not too distant future, there will be a get-together at her house. At a later time, the remains of Noreen and her husband will be placed at the Baie Verte Cemetery together. Your choice of charitable organization is welcome to receive contributions in memory of Noreen.
