Mary Rishel Obituary, Death – After a protracted battle with illness, Mary Ann Rishel, age 79, from Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on March 30, 2023 at her home. She was born in Leroy, West Virginia on July 6, 1943, and her parents, Orville and Lilly D. Bell Barker, both passed away before her birth. Mary Ann graduated from Spencer High School in 1961 and was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church at the time of her graduation.
Mary Ann and her husband Roy were the owners and operators of Hays & Company in Spencer for a number of years, during which time Mary Ann worked there as an accountant until she eventually retired. Mary Ann and Roy enjoyed many beautiful years together spent seeing the world and spending time at their vacation home on Kiawah Island in South Carolina. Bowling, gardening, and tending to her children, home, family, and friends were some of her favorite activities.
She also enjoyed going on bowling excursions. She was a devoted supporter of the West Virginia University Mountaineers, and during games she was just as likely to holler at the officials as she was to cheer for the home side. Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Roy Rishel of Spencer; daughter, Kim Tetrick of Pittsburgh, PA; two sons, Rob and Lee Rishel both of Spencer; two grandchildren, Leah and Ellie Tetrick both of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Eleanor Bender of North Olmstead, OH, Carolyn Greathouse of Spencer and Dorothy Mullins of Summerville, SC; two brothers, Bob Barker of Spencer and Dean Barker of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her three brothers, Keith, Estus, and Carl Barker. Her grandparents also before her in death.
