Mary Polter Obituary, Death – Dr. Mary Mechelle Polter’s untimely death occurred on March 22, 2023, when she was 57 years old, and the circumstances surrounding her passing were entirely unexpected. Mechelle was born to Mary Rose Johnston on February 24, 1966, in the city of Owensboro, which is located in the state of Kentucky. She graduated from Greenwood High School with her high school diploma in 1984 and then went on to earn her doctorate in linguistics from Walden University in 2016.
The loss of Mechelle’s mother at such a young age had a great effect on her, and as a result, she embarked on a road of commitment that would continue throughout her whole life. She came to the realization that her life’s work should be devoted to encouraging, guiding, and educating young people. Mechelle was able to discover a sense of accomplishment in her role as Senior Director at EmployIndy, where she was instrumental in the creation of both the Talent Bound work-based learning continuum and the Modern Apprenticeship Program.
In this role, she was able to find a sense of purpose in her work. It brought her a great deal of satisfaction to steer her team in the direction of supporting adolescents and young adults in the Indianapolis area in making decisions that would have a profound impact on their futures. Mechelle and Brian had their first encounter in the year 1990, and the following year, on September 28, 1991, the two of them began their remarkable journey together by getting married.
Her children Briana, Colton, and Destiny, in addition to her daughter-in-law, Maddie, all survive her, as does her husband of 31 years, Brian. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law. Before she did, her grandmother Geneva Richardson, her brother Jamie Payne, and her sister Kathy all went away. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects to the deceased at Indiana Funeral Care on April 7, 2023. The funeral home is situated at 8151 Allisonville Road.
The funeral will get under way at 6:30 p.m., and the cremation will take place just after that. The Dr. Mechelle Polter Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in her honor so that others can learn more about her passion for working with young adults and adolescents in Indianapolis. This fund was founded as a long-lasting tribute to her memory, and it also acts as a memorial to her legacy that will stand the test of time.
