Lindsey Compton Death, Obituary -Mr. Riley Lindsey Compton, who had lived at 733 Garland Street, passed away on November 2, 2021 at the age of 90 at the Stratford Rehab in Danville, Virginia. He was able to go to be with the Lord there. On January 26, 1931, he was born to Marshall Compton, who had passed away earlier, and Sarah Compton, who had also passed away previously.
In total, he was married to Barbara Jeanne Barnes Compton for 58 years, during which time they spent their lives together. Both the Disston Plant and the Dan River Mills were places of employment for him before he retired from the workforce. He was a regular participant in the services held at the River Oak Church of God.
His children Karen McDaniel (Frank), Alen Compton, and Clinton Compton (Joyce) are among the people who carry on his legacy. He is also survived by his siblings Delma Miller, Pencie Young, Pauline Reed, James Compton, David Compton, and Simon Compton. In addition, he is the grandfather of six descendants, ten great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandkids.
His wife and four of his siblings—Jean Hicks, John Compton, Cora Campbell, and Jack Compton—preceded him in death. Mr. Compton himself passed away after their passing. Mr. Compton was preceded in death by his siblings in addition to his parents when he passed away.
On Friday, November 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., funeral services will be performed at Highland Burial Cemetery, with Reverend John Meadows and Reverend Kenneth Barnes officiating.
