Jessica Maillie Death, Obituary – Jessica L. Maillie, age 35, from Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at UMass Hospital as a result of injuries she incurred in a car accident. Her passing came much too soon. Jessica’s birthday is September 26th, and she was born in Worcester in 1986. She was a member of the North High School Class of 2004 when she graduated.
At the time of her passing, Jessica was enrolled at Quinsigamond Community College working toward a degree in radiological technology; she was scheduled to receive her diploma in May of 2022. She spent the better part of a decade and a half at what was afterwards renamed the Unity Salon working as a hair stylist there. Jessica was a source of goodness for her entire family, but particularly for her son.
She was a wonderful mother who delighted in participating in any and all activities with her son. Jessica was an imaginative and often fiery young woman who had a passion for reading, dancing, and spending time with her huge Italian family.
Jessica leaves behind her cherished son, Josiah Diaz of Worcester, and his father, Luis Diaz of Leicester; her mother, Mary Jane Simone; her brother, Max Simone and his wife Paula Alves; her maternal grandparents, Bartolomeo and Winifred Simone; three aunts, Gina Tangney and her husband Brian, Linda Lawton and her husband Tommy, and Christina Chionchio all of Worcester; her uncle, Tommie Simone and his wife Kim of Bradent Her father, Kevin Harkins, passed away in 1994, leaving Jessica without a parent.
On Friday, October 15, 2021, from 4 until 7 o’clock in the evening, relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, located at 370 Plantation Street in Worcester. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Providence-St. Bernard’s Church, which is located at 228 Lincoln Street in Worcester, on Saturday, October 16 at 10 o’clock in the morning.
The subsequent ceremony will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. Donations to the Josiah Kevin Diaz Memorial Fund at TD Bank can be contributed in lieu of flowers and should be made payable to the bank.
