In other news, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently conducting an investigation into a deadly accident that occurred early in the morning in Brant County. On Saturday morning, just before 8 o’clock, emergency response teams were dispatched to the incident on Cockshutt Road. According to the police report, a dark-colored Honda from 2004 went off the road and collided with a utility pole. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) uploaded a photo to their Facebook page that depicted a severely damaged vehicle and a broken utility pole.It was determined that one person had passed away at the scene.

The deceased has been named by the OPP as Quinn Hainer, who was from Ancaster and was 19 years old. According to the police, he was in the process of making his way home from work early on that morning. Cockshutt Road was closed from Burtch Road all the way to Indian Line for approximately seven hours, however it has already reopened to traffic.

A severely damaged truck and a snapped utility pole were visible in a photograph that the police released from the scene. Cockshutt Road resident Miranda Rienzo stated, “We could see the hydro pole was broken and leaning so they had to take off the hydro.” Miranda Rienzo lives on Cockshutt Road. We were able to see flashing lights when we looked out the window. Between the hours of 8:30 and 9, it was still quite dark in this location. The power went off completely.

We went on a walk to the end of the driveway to see what was going on, and from there we could see the overturned car in the neighboring farmer’s field. After speaking with the authorities, we discovered that no one seemed to know what occurred or what time it occurred.
