Janice Matthews Obituary, Death – On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, Janice Marie Dean, who was 76 years old and formerly of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away. On January 3, 1947, she made her debut into the world in Douglasville, Georgia. Janice Criswell is the daughter of Leroy Criswell, who passed away, and Velma Akins Criswell, who also passed away. Janice possessed a heart full of kindness and compassion, and she had a strong love for her family. Her most cherished activities included getting together with her loved ones and friends, as well as producing works of art out of commonplace objects found around the house. Janice could frequently be found tending to her assortment of plants, watching the birds and squirrels play in the trees, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Bulldogs women’s basketball team. Janice was also known for being an excellent southern cook who never passed up an opportunity to bake delicious treats for special occasions.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Criswell; sister, Judy Criswell Glover; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Cook and Barry Easterwood. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother.

Janice leaves behind her devoted and loving husband, Randell Gene Dean, as well as her sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Emily Dean of Cumming, Georgia; Bryan and Karen Dean of Douglasville, Georgia; Chris Dean of North Palm Beach, Florida; and daughter Amber Dean of Carrollton, Georgia; sisters Joyce Criswell Cook of Temple, Georgia and Jackie Criswell Easterwood of Douglasville, Georgia; sister-in-law Charlotte Williams Criswell of Douglasville, Georgia; and grandchildren Brittany We will never stop loving and missing you… until the next time we can get together.

On Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm, the family will be present at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home to greet and visit with friends. The memorial service will begin at three o’clock in the afternoon and will be held in the Villa Rica Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home.
