Jack Glassford Obituary, Death – Jack Glassford, a life member of the New Zealand Police and Fire Union (NZPFU) and a former member of the Gisborne Local, passed away on Tuesday morning after a brief battle with illness. Jack was also a member of the Gisborne Local in the past. We are passing on this information to our fellow union members with a heavy heart and an overwhelming feeling of remorse.

Jack’s career as a firefighter in Gisborne stretched almost the length of more than 40 years, and the entirety of that time was devoted to serving the community there. Additionally, he was held in very high esteem for the work that he did on the Gisborne Local committee, where he presided over the organization for about twenty years and was a member of the committee for a considerable amount of time.

In the year 2010, the New Zealand Police and Fire Union (NZPFU) bestowed upon him the honor of Life Membership as a token of their gratitude for his extraordinary contributions to the Union as well as his unwavering commitment to the people that make up the Gisborne Local. Because of his dedication to the Union, this was done as a gesture of appreciation on our part.

In addition to this, Jack enjoyed the distinction of being a Gold Star recipient and was a Life Member of the Gisborne Brigade, both of which are awards bestowed upon members of the armed forces. In addition to this, the New Zealand Fire Service Golf Association honored him by elevating him to the position of Life Member in acknowledgement of the significant contributions he had made to the association.
