Howard Schafer Obituary, Death – During this difficult time, the people who serve on the Kirkwood Fire Department would like the Schafer family to know that they are in their thoughts and that they offer their condolences to them. In addition, they would like to thank the Schafer family for their service to the community. Retired Engineer Howard Schafer Jr. Retired Engineer Schafer died on March 30, 2023. Engineer Schafer served with the Kirkwood Fire Department for the entirety of his 31-year career until the year 2004, when he made the decision to step down from his position and retire from the organization. Engineer Schafer served with the Kirkwood Fire Department for the entirety of his 31-year career until the year 2004.

Since then, he has handed in his resignation from the position he held at that location previously. Engineer Schafer was a loyal soldier who had served his country bravely throughout the length of the Vietnam War before going on to retire later in life. During his time of service, Schafer had gone on to become an engineer. Prior to his time spent in the military, Schafer had also been employed in the engineering field for a period of time. Schafer launched his professional life as an engineer while he was still serving in the military. On May 23, 1983, he was promoted to the position of Engineer, and he was also among the first paramedics in St. Louis County to receive a license.

He was one of the pioneers in the field. On the very same day, I was successful in both of these endeavors. In addition to this, he was the very first person to be elevated to the following level when it was available. In addition to this, he was one of the first people to be elevated to a higher position, making him one of the pioneers in the field.
