Gertrude Healy Obituary, Death – On September 10, 2022, Gertrude Alice Healy (Racicot) passed away at the age of 82 in the comfort of her home in Fairfax, Virginia. She was the middle daughter of Alice M. (Moreau) and Armand J. Racicot, and she was born on March 29, 1940 in the comfort of her own home in Webster, Massachusetts. In 1942, the family made the move to Haverhill, Massachusetts.
In 1957, she received her diploma from Presentation of Mary Academy, which was located in Hudson, New Hampshire. In 1961, Gert attended Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts to get his bachelor’s degree in French studies. Gert had the opportunity to spend one summer of his undergraduate education at the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
In 1963, she tied the knot with William Ryder Healy and afterwards relocated to Oxford, Massachusetts. At the beginning of her career as a teacher, she worked at the Henry James Memorial High School in Simsbury, Connecticut. She later taught in Boylston, Massachusetts. She eventually went back to teaching after taking some time off to raise her children, and she spent the most of her career at Paxton Center School in Paxton, Massachusetts, where she taught French and Spanish. In 1990, she took her retirement from the classroom.
She was a really diligent instructor who also had a passion for what she did. When her husband passed away in 2012, she decided to relocate to Virginia so that she could be closer to two of her daughters as well as four of her grandkids. Gert was predeceased by her parents, her son William David, her husband of 49 years, William, as well as her two sisters, Jacqueline and Suzanne.
Gert was married to William for a total of 49 years. She is survived by her sons, Matthew (Christine) Healy of Aldie Virginia and Marc (Heidi) Healy of Elgin, Illinois; a daughter Laura Healy (Nate) Barker of Fairfax Virginia, six grandchildren:
Grace H. Preede, Emma E. Preede and Caroline C. Preede of Fairfax Virginia, Kamryn S. Healy of Aldie, Virginia, William R. Healy and Gwendolyn M. Healy of Elgin, Illinois, and nieces and nephews. Gert followed in the footsteps of her husband in donating her body to the Howard University Faculty of Medicine when she passed away. When her family has her ashes in their possession, they will inter them in the family grave in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
