George Rodriguez Obituary, Death – Jorge “George” Luis Rodriguez, Sr., 53, a native of McAllen, Texas and a resident of Franklin for the past 33 years, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00 AM at Our Lady Of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Crossing Place Fellowship in Franklin. After the funeral, the body will be transported to the Perpetual Park Cemetery in Franklin for interment.
Reverend Brad Bullock will preside over the services. Jorge had finished the Sheriff’s Office Basic Training and Field in Service Training Courses at Louisiana State University. He completed a Shoot, Don’t Shoot course, obtained many letters of praise and reference, and was certified by the Police Officers Standard and Training Council. He was a member of the Narcotic Officer’s Association, the Louisiana Peace Officer’s Association, and the Magnolia State Peace Officer’s Association. Also, he was a former board member for the Boys & Girls Club of the Bayou Teche Area and a member of the Franklin Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was actively involved in a wide variety of commercial and civic activities in the community.
His wife of 30 years, Maria Garcia Rodriguez of Franklin; two sons, Robert Rodriguez of Lafayette and David Rodriguez and his wife Sabrina of Franklin; one brother, Steve Rodriguez and his wife Paula of Jacksonville, Texas; his father, Julio Rodriguez of Berley, Idaho; his mother, Adelina G. Sarabia of Franklin; three half-brothers, Cipriano Alvarez of Tyler, Texas, Julio Rodriguez, Jr. of Berley, Idaho, and Andrew Rodriguez and his wife
One of his sons, George L. Rodriguez, Jr., as well as his maternal grandparents, Maria S. Garza and Juan Garza, as well as his paternal grandparents, Martin and Manuela Rodriguez, and his father-in-law, Favian T. Garcia, all passed away before him.
On Tuesday, February 28, a gathering of family and friends will be place at the Crossing Place Fellowship in Franklin from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and then again on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the service hour of 10:00 AM. Both events will take place during the same week. Robert Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, Robert Wilkerson, Ned Davis, Rogelio Guzman, Jr., and Juan Garza will serve as pallbearers. Steve Rodriguez, Dana C. Harrison, Rodrigo Cardenas, and Ken Dykes will serve as honorary pallbearers during the funeral service.
