Denis Weldon Obituary, Death – On November 19, 2022, Dennis Gordon Weldon, who had lived in Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the age of 91. Dennis, also referred to as Denny, Uncle Denny, Grandfather, Pops, and Popa, was this man. On February 10, 1931, Frank and Flora Weldon welcomed their son Dennis into the world in Bawlf, Alberta. He had three brothers—George, Harold, and James (Jim), and a sister, Wandalee—while he was growing up (Wandy).
On July 8, 1951, he wed Jean Alice Sheets, and the two of them went on to have four children: Judith (Judi), Susan, Sandra, and Neil. Together, they were raised. Dennis worked for Mobil Oil for 32 years and was quite proud of his tenure there. In spite of the fact that he had not completed his high school education, he was employed by Mobil Oil with only a grade 10 education because he had previous experience working in the oil maintenance industry. He was never denied the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities anywhere in the province of Alberta. In addition to working out of Rainbow Lake, he relocated his family several times between Edmonton, Swan Hills, Drayton Valley, and Whitecourt. He also had a job in Drayton Valley.
In the early years, he and his wife Jean, together with their rapidly expanding brood, made due with temporary housing options, such as a portable skid shack, until they finally established themselves in Whitecourt in 1970. After retiring in 1989, he and Jean relocated to Red Deer, Alberta, to be closer to their children and grandkids. But, they also became official snowbirds, spending a lot of time in Quartzite and Yuma, which are both located in Arizona. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed activities such as fishing, ice fishing, hunting, camping, and watching birds.
Dennis is survived by: his sister, Wandalee (Bill) Androschuk, nephew Jeff (Maria) Androschuk and great nieces, Sierra and Ashley; daughter Judith (Maurice Rostaing) Weldon; daughter Sandra (Brian) Lowes; son, Neil Weldon; grandchildren: Dana Myckan, Jodi Myckan, Marshall (Samantha) Lowes and Matthew Lowes; and great grandchildren: Chloe McKort, Zevan Whitbeck and Keira Whitbeck. His parents and brothers had passed away before him, as well as his wife, Jean, in 2013. His daughter, Susan, and granddaughter, Kari Myckan, both passed away in 2022.
