Denis FitzGerald Obituary, Death – Dr. Denis J. FitzGerald, who had been a resident of Worcester, Massachusetts in the past, passed away on March 25, 2023. He was 82 years old at the time of his death and was living in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania at the time of his passing. On April 29, 1940, he was welcomed into the world in Worcester, Massachusetts by his late parents, Dr. Arthur FitzGerald and Julia FitzGerald (nee Lenehan).

Denis is survived by his loving wife, Joan M. FitzGerald (née Chiminello), as well as his children Dr. Denis FitzGerald, Dr. James FitzGerald, and Julie Hess, Esquire, as well as his son-in-law, Steven T. Hess. Denis is also survived by his son-in-law, Steven T. Hess. All of the grandchildren, Amanda, Kaitlyn, William, Megan, and Andrew, were fortunate to have him as a loving grandfather.

In addition, he was the dearly loved brother of the late Dr. Arthur FitzGerald, the late Terence FitzGerald, Esquire, Cathlene Christiano, and Maryellen Lalor. Dr. Arthur FitzGerald was a physician, and Terence FitzGerald was an attorney. Unfortunately, none of his siblings are still alive today. Denis graduated from Worcester Academy, Brown University, the New Jersey College of Medicine, and the New York Eye and Ear Hospital. He now works at the New York Eye and Ear Hospital.

During the course of his career, he served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, the Chief of Ophthalmology at the Fallon Clinic, the Chief Executive Officer and President of St. Vincent’s Hospital, and the New England Regional Medical Director of Veterans Affairs. In addition, he was also the President of St. Vincent’s Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at noon, and will be followed by interment in St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester, Massachusetts. The date and location of the interment have yet to be determined.
