Tory Lanez engaged a formidable defense attorney and legal team for his appeal, and his legal struggles in court are still ongoing. He fired his original counsel after the police concluded that he had shot Megan Thee Stallion. Jose Baez, who famously and successfully defended Casey Anthony when she was accused of killing her daughter, has now been recruited by the man.

Sources close to the artist’s agents reportedly told TMZ that Baez will work with lawyers David Kenner and Matthew Barhoma. These two new additions to his team also have a decent amount of experience. Suge Knight was defended by Kenner, who helped him receive probation for a robbery charge and collaborated with him on a homicide case. In addition, Kenner successfully defended Snoop Dogg in a murder case at the same time as he was Knight’s attorney in the 1990s.

Additionally, Baez supported Aaron Hernandez in his well-known case. The football player’s lawyer battled for an appeal of his conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd before the player committed suicide. He defended several celebrities and assisted Hernandez in winning a double murder case before this one.

All eyes are currently focused on Tory Lanez’s future, though. Recently, Kenner asked the court to delay Lanez’s sentencing so he could finish reading the court records from the trial. He will be better able to craft his argument if he is able to catch up. Later, the judge granted the rapper’s motion, and his sentence has been scheduled for February 28. In addition, he might spend 22 years in jail and be deported to Canada.

The case’s victims are beginning to recover despite all the turmoil surrounding it. Additionally, Lanez’s relatives reportedly stated that they “forgave [Megan Thee Stallion] a long time ago.” He also talked about trying to avoid bad vibes and not spreading hate any further. They won’t “back down from the machine,” he insisted, nonetheless.
