Barbara Rhodes Obituary, Death – I’m sorry to be the one to break the news to you, but Mrs. Charlotte (Morrison) Somerset has gone away. It is required of me to act in this manner. She left on the 25th of March, 2023. That was the day she left. Everyone is going to be kept up to date on the specifics of the funeral preparations as soon as it is possible to do so. Yes, today is such a discouraging day. She was deserving of the name “Best.” In this picture, Charlotte is seen spending time with her cousin Linda, her uncle James Jr., and her aunt Louise. She is the grandparent of the oldest child, and all of the other grandchildren looked up to her as a friend.
Her parents, Charles Franklin Morocco and Mae Elizabeth (Shaulis) Morocco, have both passed away, and she was born in Somerset. Her surviving sisters are Donna Morocco of Somerset, Ann Becker of Somerset, Sue Louise Bowser and husband D. Gregory of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, and Elizabeth Maul and husband William of Friedens. She is also survived by a sizable number of nieces and nephews who were her children’s children. After receiving her diploma from Somerset High School in 1959, Charlotte went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from Shippensburg University in 1963 and her Master of Education degree from Ohio University in 1966. Both degrees were in education.
Prior to her retirement from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she had worked for many years as a member of the college’s administrative staff, she served as the Dean Emeritus. Golf, horseback riding, bingo, and casino gambling were all activities that Charlotte adored. At the Somerset site of Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home & Cremation Services, the family will be available to meet and greet visitors on Saturday from noon to 1 pm. Immediately after that, at one o’clock in the afternoon, there will be a funeral service, and the Reverend Roy Burket will preside over the ceremony. The Somerset County Memorial Park will be the location of the interment services.
